Where would be a good place to catch the parade? TIA for any help. Happy Mardi Gras!

What type of atmosphere are you looking for?

You can go downtown and watch Comus parade through the parade in their limosines.

You know you have clout when you stop another parade to have your wife and daughters dropped off in their furs.

I've always just stayed close to the Marriott.

But if you want a coconut, you might want to post up somewhere earlier on the route.

Do they still break down all the time? I watched them pour 20 quarts of oil into a float one year.

Off course. They love delaying Rex. Doesn't matter, besides the clubs downtown the people who watch don't care about Rex after Jackson Avenue.

Me, back in the ‘70s.

That was when they used to chunk the real ones into the crowd.

First year Obama was president I held up a sign that said "YES WE CAN catch coconuts" and got 3 or 4

Is this still a problem?? I know it can happen to any float but Zulu was/is notorious for breaking down. In years past those frickers were always breaking down and pissing off all the old white dudes in Rex. I saw a Zulu float broken down and leaning badly at the corner of Jackson and St. Charles. I was thinking they were never going to get that thing going again. They did..
