Went to State Captial drag way when I was in high school. It was 1988 and the last time I believe the Cajun nationals NHRA was held there. I saw Joe Amato win the top fuel event. We sat in the third row on the east side. The nitro methane about burned the hair out of my nose. Was fricking awesome. Sad it’s shut down now.

Been a drag racing fan my whole life. Never been a fan of top fuel stuff. More into door cars. Promod and Radial racing is where it's at.

I live within 15 min of Norwalk. What happened to the Fri night races and fireworks? There wasn’t anything going on. I like watching the fireworks.

There was rain in the forecast so they moved all the top fuel events up. Last round of Q1 was over by 4pm. We left after the last set of TFD so I can't say about the fireworks. You are lucky to live there...some of the best golf courses I've ever played and beautiful farmland all around. Not sure why Ohio gets a bad rep, I would move there in a heartbeat.

Just depends where at in Ohio. The northern part (close to the lake) isn’t too bad. Nice towns, hiking, cedar point, golf courses
Def alot of farm land lol

quote:For those that have never been to a NHRA Event , its hard to describe the raw power of a top fuel dragster launching. Yes, I said launching, because I don't know what to call it as it launches down the track!!!
Finally got to attend one in person and all I've got to say is holy cow. TV does these machines no justice. We were fortunate enough to get within a few yards of the starting line and just to feel the sound wave percussion in your whole body crazy. Can't remember the driver but they set a track record...ran 3.80 something at 340mph.

Back in the ‘70’s, used to get pit passes, hung out at the track starting area and took pictures. Your body would shake all weekend.

Some of the best racing around. In the glory days of Duck’s races in Valdosta there was some wild shite. We took one of our cars there to run 275 radial but had an impeller wheel touch down on the first pass so it ruined our weekend. Now we only make a couple of the big races a year (mod nats, TX2K, etc)

Open wheel sprint cars drivers are crazy.

Tons of dirt tracks in Ohio as well. Including the famous eldora track owned by Tony Stewart
I love sprint cars. But there’s nothing like 11,000 hp (I’m guessing) passing you at 300mph in less than 4 seconds. Shakes your core
