irregardless this is a stupid idea

I hope the word in bold is a troll. Also, you have have some piss poor grammar to be emboldened enough to give someone shite about using a word that is not a word.

So why do it? Honest question. thx.

My reasons:
I was about a 4 year FF in NOLA after 9/11, about 25 years old....this was a great time to be a single FF.

Work was FUN!! I remember being off on vacation and going to the firehouse to hang out. It was just exciting. Going in to a burning building is fun, exciting, makes you feel like a bad arse mother fricker....I still have that wallet!!

The work schedule allows you to do so much. Hunting, fishing, side job, vacations, etc.

The one thing that made it all worthwhile was the crew I was in. A good mix of guys, black and white, old and young. My captain was the best. Allowed me to finish my degree while on shift, which eventually led to better things. Some may say that helping others is why they do it, not me. I loved it because of the people in the firehouse.

Get promoted to captain, have my own crew now, still lots of fun, but not quite as much since the hammer would fall on me if something goes wrong. Like why are you hanging out on Bourbon way out of your first up territory Saturday night and one of your FF's is making out with a tranny??

Why wouldn't anyone want to do this??

Obviously we should ban houses. If we can do that, then no one will die of a house fire. Problem solved!

17.3 billion vs 7 billion in damage

What's the logic behind comparing their cost to the damage done by fire? It seems like you are saying there is an obvious problem because their cost is higher than the damage.
