I thought those exhibits were pretty far apart. I wonder if we'll ever see security cam footage.

Yeah. Pretty close proximity to each other.

Haven’t really been following this thread and have only heard a little bit about what happened

Not knowing much about Jaguars, why would this cat just go out and kill if not to feed itself?

This whole ordeal seems very strange.

Maybe he was just playing?

Emu's are assholes so they probably had it coming.

Dude had a buffet and was just sampling. No different than Rouge at a Golden Corral.

Am I the only the only one who finds it odd the Jaguar went on a killing rampage? Did he eat any of these animals or just killed and moved on?

Wouldn't that be kind of strange behavior for an animal?

I'm going to say no, but that's only based off the general belief that big cats will kill you because that is what they do.

Like Mike attacking the window a couple weeks ago

The zoo folks said that jaguars are extremely territorial (I imagine as is any wild cat). Dude got out and wanted to go for a walk and then was like, "Who the hell are all these animals on my turf?" and then went all Tyson on them- bite and spit.

You think there is a conspiracy?

Maybe the jaguar didn't even escape. One of those Uptown housewife gangs went around killing to get the nice furs?

What are you basing your suspicion off of?

Does the zoo not have a welcome mat for the jaguar to arrange his kills on?

Do you think there is a coverup?

I find it very interesting that the bleeding heart liberals on this board get all in a tizzy over a woman that shoots, kills and harvest 2000 lbs of meat of an 18 year old Giraffe, too old to breed, and had killed three younger bulls who were able to breed,

But are defending the actions of a Jag that just went on a killing spree for no reason at all.

I have no idea why or what you are taking about or responding to me.

think this is different. I worked at the zoo for a summer back in high school and the keepers really bond with their animals...even the ones they cannot touch directly (lions, tigers, bears...oh my).

They all have names, personalities, and bond with the keepers who provide them food, shelter, and interact with them nearly every day.

For those keepers who are tasked with caring for alpacas, emus, and foxes; it would be devastating to come to work and find out your animal had been mauled to death. Same for the jaguar keepers, as I am sure they played an accidental role in the jaguar escaping.

Not me. I could have raised those alpacas from birth, cuddled with them daily, and if a fricking jaguar started mauling them in front of me, I’d be like

You said this behavior is abnormal to you, despite all the experts saying it is normal.

Can only mean you think there is a coverup or you are just wrong.
