i'd let her do some time. My dad always told me do NOT call him if I ever got arrested.

You're in a bind, no two ways about it. Regarding your stepdaughter. She need a serious reality check and a little time in juvy probably will do her some good.

What the hell do you expect to get out of your 16 year old daughter? Her iPhone? She has nothing, and unless you're getting any money from her actual father, what do you hope to accomplish from this aside from making her hate you more?

I'm kind of torn on this one. What I would do all depends on her past behavior. If she was not always a problem child, I'd reconsider sending her to jail. If you think she can be "saved", maybe y'all can get her into counseling or drug rehab if that's the problem.

Like others have said, sending her to juvi will turn her against you and her mother for life. And if she's not a bad kid, that place could scar her for life. Maybe sit down with the D.A. or judge and discuss other options besides jail. Maybe sending her to juvi for a couple of days or a week will scare her straight.

Like I said, if you think she's a good kid at heart, give her an alternative to jail. Rehab, counseling, make her get a job to pay you back.

If she's always been a little demon, maybe jail is what she needs and deserves.

Good luck man, tough situation.

Sit her down and tell her she needs help and you will get her help. Sending her to juvy will only exasperate the problem for her and the relationship between you and her will probably be lost forever. Money is replaceable, but family is not.

Didn't get to read your post before you took it down :disappointed: but it sounds like she has a drug problem. I have a family member who did the same thing, totaling several cars, stealing from us, and doing drugs. I'd suggest you nip this in the butt now bc it only gets worse.

They have rehab centers run by the govt for convicts arrested for drug offenses where they work during the day to pay their way and do AA type classes at night. It costs almost nothing to send someone who hasn't been arrested yet to something like this. Most rehabs are extremely expensive and way too luxurious, so these work-camp types are pretty perfect

After reading again, I have thoughts. You're the one who failed her IF you haven't been this tough on her all along. Not seeing the signs is because you don't seem to have been invested in her teenage actions.

Does she love her mother? Would she listen if she was told you would divorce her mother if her actions didn't change?

What's juvy going to do that you can't?

Is there a thread that says what exactly happened?

It was in his OP and he took it down. Basically, step daughter and friends stole $10k in shite. Other girls caught pawning and his step d involved.

He "said" he was going sign papers today that would basically get her convicted and sent to a juvenile home.

About $8k was recovered at the time of his post.
