Or its just a set of rules that will weed out the cocky assholes who can't make it 3 months without wearing their affliction shirt or having someone tell them what to do. Its pretty dumb, but it works. It takes a bunch of alpha male, i was the coolest kid in my high school, immature 18 year olds and knocks them down a peg along with 30 or 40+ other guys and the build a tighter relationship because of it. I still remember the first week of pledging and everyone thinking other people were huge assholes. By the end of the semester, the majority of people were friendly with each other.

It's only shitty if you're on the outside looking in.
Don't like it, don't join. Real fricking simple.
Highly doubt these rules were posted on paper.
Prob some jelly kid that cut causing trouble.
He'd fit right in here.

Say what you will, but Greeks overwhelmingly hold high positions in business and the political arena. They're doing something right.
But kudos to you for being cooler than them.

Not all by merit, I can assure you.Nepotism/connections help out. In other words, the power was founded a long time ago, and just been passed down.

this is clearly fake for the sole reason that it is written down.

Y'all are underestimating the stupidity of 18-21 kids regarding not writing down shite they shouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised if some dumbass did write this shite down.

You watch too many movies. Being Greek does not mean that you show up to a job interview; perform a secret handshake; then receive a job offer on the spot. Even so, nepotism is hardly exclusive to Greeks.

If you give your "brothers" the secret handshake every time you see them then y'all are ghey.

Putting this in writing is pretty much a violation of Rule# 1. This is very fake. It was either done by some jealous kid who didn't get a bid, or the FIJIs themselves are trolling the GeeDs hard.

I'm not saying that it will get you a job. I'm saying that Greek organizations tend to have a lot of people who either come from well to do families who expect a lot from them, or they are driven individuals.
At the very least, I left a high school with a group of people who for the most part didn't have an idea of what they wanted to do. Then I pledged and probably 60-70% of my pledge class was either pre-law or pre-med. Not close to that ended up making it, but they at least they were trying. It's the reason a lot of them become successful. They try.
And the social aspect of it is huge. I was by no means an extremely social person before. I wasn't a politician shaking hands and kissing babies after either. But it definitely got me out of my shell a bit. I was not nearly as opposed to "being involved".

I'm an LSU greek alum, but if a greek from LSU and a GDI from Stanford apply for the same job, I'm hiring the guy from Stanford every time.

I'm not at all saying being Greek get's you a job. The personality you build might help. Not a single job application I submitted stated I was Greek.
And you would be a moron to hire someone just based on the school they attended. I work with people from Georgia Tech, UT, Stanford, and many other schools. Some are great employees, some not so much.

Some rules I remember having as a pledge
No cell phone clips
No cell phone use on campus
no gum on campus
no sideburns
pledges must sit on first 3 rows of class
no hats on campus
no tshirts on campus(unless it was Friday, then you could wear function shirts with letters on them)
Suits to football games, and bring a hot date
no drinking on Mondays unless it is at a function
hell week rules were much more intense
