Ah, yes. One of the most-famously discussed/dissected/negotiated pieces of legislation in the past quarter century

Yes, you are correct if you mean all this post passage.

Of course this is also where Obama earned "lie of the year".

Even Toyota, known for its rigorous adherence to fuel-efficiency standards, has a V8 prototype in the works.

Why don't they just go back to building their old reliable v-8?

I've got 2 of them, 22 year old 4Runner and 23 year old LX470. They each have around a quarter million miles on them...so they are finally broken in.

Now we can get true compact pickups back. Chevy S10, Jeep Comanche, actual Ranger, Nissan hardbody, etc. Give me any of those with a straight 6 and a 5 speed. Also with hand crank windows, and buttons and knobs on the dash, not a massive iPad screen.

Yes!

You are describing my first new vehicle, an S10.
Minus the straight 6, I had a shitty 4 banger.
oh and minus the 5 speed, mine was only 4.
Now that I think about its, also minus the AC, Radio and rear bumper (that was extra).

Might have been stripped down but that thing would drive though any depth of water until it floated.

Loved that truck.

V8’s without AFM crap will be in high demand so I wouldn’t expect anything to be cheaper for consumers…more reliable yes

The laws are still on the books, but there's no longer any penalty for failing to meet them. In essence, it's open season on fuel economy in the good ol' U.S. of A.

So the next Democrat run EPA will just start enforcing CAFE fines again?

For the person crying about "deception", how do we think all these policies were previously implemented? Is anyone really pretending this sort of regulatory bullshite are things a majority of the citizenry was clamoring for previously?

I don't know a single soul who said to himself "You know what this brand new truck needs? A function that shuts it off at every stop sign."
