We go to the Smokies every year, and hit Dollyeood up about once every fourth trip. It is fine as far as theme parks go, and it actually has some good rides. As far as the Pigeon Forge Tourist traps go, it is one of the better ones.
My kids would just rather spend time hiking the chimney steps or Clingmans dome or heading to Cades Cove for a day.

Just returned from there. A great time, clean park, and lines aren’t long at all. The rides are great. Lightning Rod, Wild Eagle, Mystery Mine, etc are legit rides.

Take your family to Dollywood.
Is it worth it? It’s an average park. Nothing really special.
Cabin in the forest is nice and relaxing.
I’ve been up that way 4 times. Only brought my family there once.

We went thanksgiving day. In the middle in the week it opens at 4 o’clock to 9 o’clock. I Road 4 roller coasters within an hour of being there. It was so much better than Walt Disney World, mostly because of the crowds. The national Park is amazing, but Gatlinburg is vile and disgusting.

Worth every penny. The roller coasters are great. The lightening rod is worth the price of admission.

I've been there anywhere from 22-25 times. Lost track over the years because I live a few miles away. It is a solid place for the family, not the cheapest place, though.
If you have an older family that loves roller coasters, then I would avoid it for the price alone.
I'd rather go to Six Flags over Georgia or even make the drive to Cedar Point as a roller coaster enthusiast.
Beautiful area around Dollywood if your family is into that.

I was there Wednesday for the first time. Nice park with surprisingly short lines, even with a big crowd. It's no Cedar Point, but Lightning Rod is legit.
