Or if one of the victims had a gun handy in their vehicle. NO reason not to since no permit required for that.

Not that I disagree, but...

Number 1 place guns are stolen from. The suspects probably used a gun that was stolen out of a car.

I was sure it was a couple of employed, white middle aged men that pulled that crime.

What was that again?

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office on Tuesday announced the arrests of four people in connection with the 2001 murder of a Northshore mother of four.

Man sentenced in Mandeville mother's killing
Samantha Jaume was shot to death July 4, 2001, during a botched carjacking at her Mandeville home. Jaume's four children, ages 2, 4, 7 and 9 at the time, were present during the crime.

Arrested are: Dominic Robinson, 24, of Waggaman, on a charge of first-degree murder; Jason Gainey, 21, of Waggaman, on a charge of first-degree murder; Zlatico "Zack" Brujic, 28, of Bush, on charges of accessory to murder after the fact and obstruction of justice; and Sarah Faison, 19, of Mandeville, on charges of accessory to murder after the fact, obstruction of justice and probation violation.

At the time of their arrests in the Jaume killing, Robinson and Brujic were jailed on unrelated charges. Robinson was serving time at Angola State Penitentiary after a September 2001 conviction for a carjacking and shooting at a Houma mall. Brujic was jailed in Jefferson Parish for heroin possession.

After an extensive investigation and national media exposure, police said they are certain they have cracked the Jaume case -- the only unsolved homicide in St. Tammany Parish since 1996.

Investigators said that on July 4, 2001, Robinson and Gainey were involved in a drug transaction in the parking lot of a Northshore Wal-Mart, when the two saw Jaume with her children and targeted her for her 2001 Ford Expedition.

Police said the two suspects followed Jaume from the Wal-Mart to her home, where they tried to steal her car keys. A struggle ensued, and Robinson shot Jaume to death as her four children hid, police said.

Police suspect that Robinson and Gainey hid near the Jaume home for some time after the crime, and then returned to New Orleans in the company of Brujic and Faison.

Police said Robinson went to the Melpomene housing development in New Orleans, where he allegedly sold the murder weapon for crack cocaine.

"The conclusion of this case has been long in coming, and we're pleased to provide some level of closure for the Jaume family," Sheriff Jack Strain said at a Tuesday news conference. "While nothing we do can bring Samantha back or ease her family's pain, we can pursue justice with painstaking efficiency and determination."

Can't take a bus to mandeville, and will need to cough up $5 to get back across the lake.

You had to dig up a crime from 16 years ago? I think you proved my point.

Just saying no one is immune and it can and did happen. I would argue that police were tougher and ran a tighter ship over here 15 years ago than they do now. I'm not bashing the north shore, I've lived here most of my 44 years and my parents and grandparents were raised in Abita, just saying once again no one is immune. A doctor in my neighborhood was tied up and robbed by someone who he had working in his house a couple years ago.
