Was this a correct way of handling the situation?
Don't be a count and just pick up the leaves. It would take 15 minutes. Or just leave them in a pile and let them compost.

My houses have trees. The leaves fall where they may. If they fall in a neighbor's yard and they blow them back onto mine, nature usually finds a way to blow them back onto their yard. I'm not messing with leaves. My lawn guy will come at some point and chop them up.

I have a neighbor with a tree that drops leaves in my yard, but it has never occurred to me to do anything other than just clean and maintain my own yard. I also have a tree that drops some leaves in his yard though, so I guess we're even

It may or may not be right, I don't know what the law is. But one thing for certain, blowing a pile of leaves into your neighbors yard is a bitch move.

By chance do you own a tow truck? When your neighbor comes to confront you spray him with water hose and see what happens.

Wasn't Rand Paul the composter and his neighbor the neater of the two?
And a gentle reminder about blowing leaves into the street. Unless you live in a city where the leaves are left next to the street to be vacuumed up by city workers, the leaves will go into the storm drains, rot there and fill the drains so that excess rainfall will flood nearby houses. Not that anyone in Louisiana would know about localized flooding due to heavy rains in limited areas.

your fence line extend upward into space. So you are responsible for the leafs in your yard if they came from branches overhanging your fence. You will have to determine the proper leaf to branch ratio to figure out which leafs you can and can't blow into your neighbors yard.
