In the last launch the rocket blew up and the launch pad was destroyed. Of course there will be necessary corrective measures. The ignorance in this thread is epic.

FAA now playing politics against Elon too? Wtf

He got on the wrong side of the dems.

The DOJ or SEC is investing him/Tesla for the glass house he's building outside Austin.

They have no clue to the actions of Space X. They could not have ever designed a rocket or land on its own as Space X has done!

The FAA controls (approves) Spacex launches and landing no matter where from.

Tell that to China, NK, Russia. frick'em.

Space X would have to have FAA approval to launch/land anywhere, even outside of the US.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

The FAA are bureaucrats doin bureaucrat stuff. It’s been a year and Blue Origin is still grounded after their flight abort sequence worked as designed.
I expect NASA to begin applying pressure. SpaceX is ready to go and NASA needs them for Artemis III

Wut? We tell mexico what they can launch?

No, FAA controls US based commercial operator launch/landings anywhere in world. See my post above this one.

And again, I doubt any of the FAA requirements are a surprise to Elon/SpaceX. The US government is SpaceX’s biggest customer. Even if some FAA bureaucrat wanted to stick it to Musk, I doubt it would go over very well with NASA or the DOD.

The concrete under the launch platform being blown to shite

quote:

SpaceX has solved a lot, if not all of those problems although how the new launch platform water deluge system will hold up under the full power of a a launch is yet to be seen.

they already got a little taste of this with the Booster 9 static fire

all 33 engines lit... it got to 50% thrust... and only 2 engines cut out during the test... if it performed well with that (and I assume it did b/c we haven't heard of any issues with it)... then I would be cautiously optimistic it'll do well during a launch

quote:

the loss of control of the vehicle

getting better reliability of 33 Raptor engines working in harmony will take care of this issue

quote:

and the fact that the detonation system didn't immediately destruct the vehicle.

I know for a fact that just a couple weeks after the 1st flight test a different flight termination system (FTS) was tested and it seemed to pass... the booster & Starship currently stacked on the pad in Boca Chica has the new, more powerful FTS system installed

You are so gullible. You do realize how much you, the taxpayer, has contributed to both SpaceX and Tesla, don't you? Do you really think Musk had done anything without federal funding and tax breaks?

Why is SpaceX still launching from the US?

There's no shortage of countries that would be ecstatic to have Elon without the red tape BS.

At least the second and third string engineers got to tell the varsity folks what to do. Without them this mission has no hope.

Ummmm, not if it’s a Mexican company, which can easily happen.

Musk is a masochist.

He has a car assembly plant in Cali.

No one does that.
