give them a JSA for Interviewing.
It's honestly why I am contemplating not even accepting the job if given and just using it to force a raise at my current. They don't fix shite, the place is in shite condition, they leave landmines everywhere and if you step on one.....why didn't you look harder?

Good advice from fightintiger, also don't be afraid to joke a little and have a laugh. They want to see you are personable and can get along well with others.

You described just about every industrial environment up and down the river.

Having said that, the facts remain respecting the young Marine I mentioned.
No doubt good people get passed over multiple times and there are shite hires on the first time.
Sometimes a seemingly good answer isn't the exact answer they are looking for.
Also, military background in a process tech environment isn't exactly a good fit. Have heard many managers say this.

Having the charisma and confidence to talk yourself into the job is key. I know plenty of great guys who would make excellent operators, but they can't kill it during the interview.

Welcome to Ops, how may I help you? Seriously, your expectations are unrealistic. You either like that type of work and the compensation, or you don't. Don't overthink things.

Yea, right up front give them your opinion of their operators you've met.
They don't need your kind young fella.

No, I've worked in 4 other plants and on a scale of order, house keeping,, equipment numbering, ladder/tool availability, personality of operations....etc.
I'd give those 4 in the range of 7-9 out of 10, Exxon <0.
I went around the coker last summer and grabbed 6 ladders and brought them to operations and told them to call safety and get someone to inspect their damn ladders, half the year has passed and not one of the ladders was inspected for 2015. Operators there are the most DO NOTHING entitled pos's I've ever been around. Mouth breather said "ladder inspector's off today". Jackass

He shou have to spend an entire shift on one of the ladders.
Sounds like a nigtmare

SOI/SAI audit would have caught many if not all of those. It falls to a lot more than the operator if it has gone that far.
Also, it is probably best if you don't go out there. Someone bitching because a ladder doesn't have a tag has no business on a unit. That isn't a magic tag, it doesn't ward off evil ladder gremlins.

No but if you're caught using it, you are banned from the site. If you don't get your job done you're fired. If you can't find a ladder to use "you're not looking hard enough".... That's why I grabbed the six and brought them all.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Appreciate the comments.

Maybe you should have brought your own ladder.
Or inspected it and applied own sticker.
Honestly, you sound like your aren't good at problem solving or being prepared.
Don't bring me a problem, bring me a solution to the problem.

I checked my EM profile a few days ago and saw that all my apps were "Under review" or something like that. I forgot the wording. Now today the "review" status is gone and i just have the "withdraw" button grayed out now.

I have been on the interview team at Exxon in the past. Fighting tiger nailed it... Those are the exact type of questions you are going to be asked. Mostly situational (always answer safety first). They are going to ask what u would do if your supervisor asks u to do a job u think is unsafe. Hint-don't do it! Respectfully seek other alternatives
Also very important to not be nervous, they are looking for 'team players', u will be working on shift, with a team. They have to see u as being able to fit in. U need to seem out-going, show a sense of humor.
Idk how old u are, when asked about hobbies don't talk about drinking and partying (u would be shocked to know what some young guys say).
Hunting, fishing, coach little league...all winners.
Mechanically inclined- big plus
U need to be reliable, dependable, able to fit-in with others on shift.

When asked, do you have a problem with working holidays?
Answer in the narrative that you are selfless giving up time with your family so others can have some time with theirs.
Realize it is true through. If you aren't working
Willing to leave your wife, and kids, at home on Christmas eve and Christmas day, this might not be for you.
You may not heve a holiday for 15 years depending where you land in the unit. Think, working christmas, thanksgiving, 4th of July, Easter, Mardi Gras, every LSU game. Every year for a while
