Louisiana now has over 9,000 cases of COVID-19.
Yesterday that number was 6,400 cases.
Does that help you understand what spread means? Even if this is due to a delay in testing it shows that the virus has touched far more people than people think.
Keep in mind the state of Louisiana is only 4.6 million residents.
Florida has 21 million residents, they have 7,765 cases as of yesterday.
Based on population size this is bad, and we should be concerned with a state that ranks in the bottom 5 for healthcare in the country. Things are going to get tricky soon. We all have to do our part.

UPDATE: these numbers *are* scary and overwhelming, but we are already taking some heavy measures to combat it, so placing citizens under mandates while refusing to give them proper information is even more alarming. People need to be aware and vigilant. Our state is doing an amazing job compared to many other states that I have worked with, and I’m very proud. Right now we have 9,150 KNOWN positive cases. We have had 310 deaths and many of us have already been personally impacted by that number and most of us will be by the time this is truly over. We have 1639 current hospitalizations with 507 of those patients requiring ventilation. These are very long, very involved hospital stays. We are opening around 2000 step down beds and several other quarantine beds. Our numbers will get bigger, false hope is pretending this is ok. It’s NOT ok. The real hope is we can stay safe if we *STAY HOME*. Continue to push for legislation for security for the people in our state - not just in an emergency situation, but always. T

Are you appalled by how incarcerated people are being treated during the COVID-19 crisis? Have you called elected officials and the Department of Corrections today? If not, give them a call and demand protection for members of our community who are in jail or prison.
