To say cable TV has long-since past its dominance in the realm of history documentaries is an understatement. Channels like Epic History TV continue to pump out first class content that puts the History Channel to shame.

Part 1 is featured below, with the second part just releasing today:

Ww1 is the craziest war in history to me. I was always a bit of a ww2 buff, but recently in last 5 years started going deep on ww1.

Everyone knew where the next hotspot was going to be for sometime, and countries literally built railroads to battlefields. Then they just pumped as much resources, ordinance, and humanity in pipelines to them until something cracked. There will never be anything quite like it again. shite france is still trying to recover.

Ww2 brought mobile armor so the Hotspots didnt stay fixed quite like ww1 and then weapon technology got to the point where its not quite possible to have such long stationary battles. Stalingrad was somewhat comparable. Ukraine is said to be ww1 esque but the manpower mounds are just not close.

I’ve been to Verdun and been inside Fort Douaumont. While nature has mostly reclaimed the area, you can still tell what happened there with how chewed up the ground is. Also, the amount of graves at the Douamont Ossuary is staggering, and that’s only a fraction of the dead. If you’re into WW1, the museum there is first rate as well. Verdun itself is very out of the way but it was a great experience.
