Madonna was very influential and cutting edge in her prime. Her peesonal choices/behavior aside, the woman made great music in the mid-late 80's. "Borderline" is fantastic.
Now saying that, IMO, Whitney is tGOAT female vocalist. The only ones who can touch her are Mariah and Celine

Neither Madonna, Whitney, nor Celine are full-fledged musicians. They are singers. They may or may not dabble in musical instruments. But not nearly good enough to showcase it at every show, concert, or on a record.

I have never heard someone bring up Madonna when talking about who the best singer is. She had some hits an all, but she couldn't top this.

You are correct. But Madonna more of an overall star compare to Whitney.
