I had one grandfather live to 76, one grandmother live to 99 and the other grandfather live to 95. My grandmother on my dad's side lived to her mid 90's.

I was with my grandmother for weeks until she took her last breath. One of the most painful, but most beautiful things I've ever experienced.

I had one GM die at 51, another at 62, and a grandfather last July at 88.

My sole surviving GF turned 89 or 90 this Spring. He's had heart trouble, strokes, and Cancer and just keeps on keeping on. Up until his stroke nearly 10 years ago he could still work my arse into the ground. He doesn't know how to relax.

fricking sucks losing grandmothers that young.

Are you going to die?

How old are you?

Do you have Cancer?

Don't answer anything that you don't want to share

My best friend was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2014. He didn't make it 4 months. It was unbelievably sad.

My grandfather in December. My family is really close knit, so there was a denial period for a bit for the family but not him. He was always sharp and I could tell he knew it was coming. It really made it a lot easier for me to deal with. Obviously it sucked, but when the person is aware and has time to be ready for it, it gives a lot more closure.

If you are close to someone that knows that they're heading out, I would just make sure you say everything you want to say when you can. You don't want to leave anything on the table when the opportunity is gone.

Also, frick cancer. Prayers sent for ya man.

Yes she was really conservative and always wore the same sweater. She sang beautifully. Leukemia took her at the end of the summer.

Damn man, hang in there.

I fricking hate Cancer. I used to donate to a few different cancer research charities over the years, but then I stopped when I gave up on them and just gave it to St Jude's.

I know that treatments have progressed but from the time I was 13 and lost my first grandmother til now, nearly 30 years later, it doesn't seem like they have made as much progress as they should. I mean they can manage HIV now, but still not cancer...WTF.

I guess if cancer mainly affected gays they might get after it a little harder.

/rant

Anyway, this is where I would say prayers sent, but I don't pray. But I do wish you the best.

I'll get my last of 10 radiation treatments tommorow. I've been unable to ear for two days but this pain medication (Oxycodone 20mg 2 @ 4hrs) may be keeping me from eating. Don't worry for me guys, I'm good with whatever happens.

Good luck brother. Facing my own mortality is one of my biggest fears. I hope you find peace.
