For a good 13 years of my life I thought Tracy Chapman was a dude.

Never saw a picture but "Give me one reason" would play at the grocery store where I worked as a teen. Sounded like a guy's voice and nothing in the song really suggested otherwise. And All the Tracys I knew growing up were boys.

Blew my mind when I downloaded the song over a decade later and saw a chick on the album cover.
