Very good camp. If your kid is a 7th or 8th grader and is learning the position its a great camp. You will get instructed by future professional players.

No but I will say I once met a chick who insisted Peyton tried to pick her up when it was held in Hammond.

She said no (she claims)

He’s got a good QB coach at school, but hasn’t really got to do much work with him yet. He’ll be an entering freshman and I just want him motivated. He’s tall, and accurate, and moves well...but who knows what coaches have in mind for him. My guess is he’ll be in with the QBs from the start. I’d like him to have some confidence with it.

Same coach that Miles Brennan had?

I don’t know. Fortunately/ unfortunately my son has the same build as Myles. A bit slight, but pushing 6’2”.

I attended for two summers in the first few years. So long ago that Eli was attending...as a rising senior at Newman HS. The Manning’s were very involved then. As were several college/pro coaches with ties to LA and the Mannings. We were placed in “teams” of 10 or so for the entire camp. The group leaders and drill leaders were mostly SEC starting QBs/WRs as well as guys from regional colleges. Names you would very much know then if you followed college football.

It was three days of drills, film work, and games. But it didn’t feel like practice. It was competitive but fun. I learned a lot about what higher level coaches/players are looking for on film. Plus, it was easy to interact with the counselors.

My group leader was Jake Delhomme (then with the Saints). He was a GREAT down to earth guy (a few years later he’s playing in the Super Bowl). Peyton was still early in his NFL career. He kind of moved around and worked drills with different groups at random. I actually had him run a couple of pass routes with me (him being the WR).

It’s probably more “corporate” now. But in the early days it was HS kids getting to rub elbows with some really talented players for 3 days

I went back in 1998 i think. It wasnt that big of a deal yet. Major applewhite was my teams coach. Dude was cool as hell and very personable. I learned more from him in 3 days than i did from my high school coaches in 4 years. I always pulled for the guy after that. Except at bama of course.

Jake delhomme was cool too. He would hang out with us after dinner and tell stories and give advice. Have no clue how it is now days. I would imagine its gotten so big its not as intimate as it use to be
