We have the general itinerary set, but wanted to make sure we hit all the main stuff.

3 nights in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Prague, Berlin, and Hamburg

2 nights in Dresden/Jena.

Ideas?

I think smoke pot and prostitutes might be up there on the list.

I don't know the exact laws, but I think Amsterdam has now made it very hard for tourists to get weed.

I went this past summer and its still completely legal. Doors wide open and you just walk in and buy. No ID or anything.

Berlin make sure you see the Sachensausen (sp?) concentration camp if you've not seen any before. It's only a 30 minute train ride. You've also got to do Potsdam to see Sans Souci and the garders / palaces. That's another 30 minute train ride. If you've only got 3 days in Berlin you probably only have time to do one of those. Maybe Do Sans Souci and get your Holocaust perspective instead during your time in Amsterdam by visiting Anne Frank House.

Reserve your tickets for Anne Frank NOW online so that you don't waste half a day in line.

Make sure you try currywurst with frites in Berlin - they're wunderbar.

I'm not a huge stoner but there's some surprisingly upscale and primo weed places in Amsterdam that you should try out if you're open to it. They look more like high-class pharmacies or chocolate shops than a head shop.

In Amsterdam they're called Frites Especial and they taste way better since you're stoned.

Oh and in Amsterdam there's a small rinky dink looking coffee shop called Grey Area. Tons of pictures of celebrities who go there on the wall and the guy that ran it was cool.

Berlin- Tempelhof Airport, it's a park now. Very cool. A lot of history. No tourists.

3 nights is not much time but.... I would rent bicycles in Amsterdam and Copenhagen so you can get around a lot quicker and see more. In Amsterdam, There are plenty of tourist things to do...Van Gogh Museum, Heineken brewery tour, Ann Frank House, Red Light District and walking around the Leidsplein and De Dam Areas (central amsterdam). I have spent quite a bit of time in Amsterdam and usually try to avoid those areas as they are over run with tourists and don't really represent Amsterdam to me. Instead, go to Vondel Park (sorta Amsterdam's Central park) and take a picnic or just a beer or weed you buy at the Bulldog (the law someone mentioned earlier was never put int in place so weed is still available to all). Keep the beer or weed on the DL though. You are not supposed to smoke or dink in public. In Vondel Park, there is a bar called the t' Blauwe Theehuis (Blue Tea House) that is a great bar with tons of multi level outdoor seating. It is hidden behind trees so you have to know its there to find it.

Definitely walk around the Canal areas of Prinsengracht, Leidesgracht. etc. (gracht at the end of a street name means canal).

I have lots of food and craft beer suggestions if you need them.

In Copenhagen, you have to rent a bike and ride around like the locals to fully appreciate the city. It's like riding in amsterdam but the Dane's follow the rules and stop at stop signs and hand signal whereas in Amsterdam its a free-for-all sometimes. So its easier for a novice rider in Copenhagen. You'll want to explore the main, old town part of the city but make sure to venture out of the core. Christianshavn is a cool area just south of the Old Town area.

Assistens Cemetery is where Hand Christain Anderson and Kierkegaard are buried. Besides that it is a beautiful, heavily treed cemetery that locals use as a sort of park.

Amager Beach is a nice beach in the part of town called Amager. We usually stay in Amager when we go to Copenhagen. The beach generally has quite a few exposed, bodacious Danish breasts. On bicycle it is a nice 20 minute ride. There is also a Metro train that goes out there.

Frederiksberg Garden is an amazing park in the north part of the city with a palace overlooking the grounds. The Zoo is next door but Ive never been to that. It is an easy bike ride except there is a giant hill you have to go up to get to the park entrance.

If you are at all adventurous, you should check out Christiania. It is a commune on an old military base in the middle of Copenhagen. They have a street market selling hippie stuff and you used to be able to buy hash and weed there. Last time we were there the government had cracked down on that. There are also some very good restaurants there. I have eaten Here and it is very good and a sort of upscale setting. Also, there is a vegetarian buffet place called Morgenstedet. It is definitely a hippie hangout but fun to eat there and people watch. Then there is a beer garden at the back end of Christiana against a bluff. Cool to hang for a beer here. Also, there is a small lake where people have built houses. Some houses are not much more than cardboard boxes and then next door will be a super nice house. Everyone pays the same amount of money for a plot of land and then you build what you want. There is a dirt trail around the lake that is a nice 30-40 minute walk.

Lagkagehuset v/ Ole Christoffersen For a chocolate danish....although they don't call it a danish.

Dell Alpi Pizza

If you like modern art at all, The Louisnana Museum of Modern Art is one of the best in the world. It is about a 20 minute train ride to the little town it is in. You then have a 15 minute walk down a little road to the museum. There is an outdoor cafe there that sits on a cliff overlooking the Baltic Sea.

I can offer some more suggestions if you want.

I have only been to Berlin on your list, but Berlin is a cool/cheap town. Go to the Berlin wall, Holocaust memorial, Bundestag/ Reichstag, and checkpoint Charlie. If you have time, go and see Sansoucci, and Potsdam as well, both are accessible by the city's S-bahn, or Suburban train..

In Amsterdam, take a tour to one of the working windmills. Those people were ahead of their times with regards to moving water out of the fields. Like someone else posted, visit the many museums in Amsterdam.
