You're honestly lucky they don't have an expatriation tax

The day is finally here - the latest round of tax increases has pushed us over the edge. It is simply unfeasible to live in Chicago/Illinois any longer. Luckily, I secured a transfer to our Dallas, TX office.

Just make sure you don’t bring Illinois toxic Democrat politics with you. Vote red.

Let the Democrat scum cities/states continue to rot

Actually this is a major reason we are leaving now. It is a huge topic of conversation as politicians are scheming ways to stop the flight of capital.

Look into living up one of the DART lines.

Unfortunately you are downtown or I would suggest living across town from where you work, always had an easy commute doing that but I have been in Ft Worth 5 years and Dallas keeps packing them in so it may not any more.

If you have money, Chicago is one of the best places on the planet from like May to August. After 30 or 35, I can see wanting to go to suburbia.

I live in Frisco and just pulled my 2020 property tax bill. I pay $1384 per thousand but I have the homestead exemption and the over 65 years of age exemption. If I didn't have the second exemption I figure that I would be paying approximately $1550 per thousand.

Love Frisco but I wouldn't make the commute you would be looking at.

That can't be real. Is it? I can't see how they can enforce such a tax. Maybe a property tax with a rebate that applies to the next home you purchase in the state?

Welcome to Dallas. I live off the tollway in Addison and love it.

I’d try sleeping under an off ramp if I were you, it’s probably safer and will be you out of the elements

Don't underestimate the creativity and ruthlessness of Chicago politicians. They will eventually find a way.

I am in the opposite boat. I am considering moving to Chicago. My soon to be wife is from there and may want to move closer to family.
