Sorry that style is so foreign to you that you wouldn't believe me. My family (not me) but one of my siblings and one of my parents has been in court for having been wronged by the state, and both of them were offered more than they accepted. I would like to believe in my own moral fiber enough to do the same thing.

Lotta folks don't understand concept of punitive damages I see.

I would never want to be in the position where my privacy was completely taken from and my employer (ESPN) tried to make light of the situation for ratings. Also, imagine every situation where she has to interact with a co-worker,fan or sports athlete (I promise you they've seen the video). The other day, Dan Patrick said on his show that because of this trial going on that the video was one of the top 3 things googled this month. So now she has to relive the aftermath of this entire ordeal again.
The hotel was absolutely in the wrong. Honestly, it's shocking how they could allow this screwup.
That amount of money though... Get real.

I'm just dumbfounded by the fact that you don't know shite about the case. Yet you've found a way to voice your opinion about how you wouldn't take the settlement/ EA doesn't deserve that kind of money for this situation. It's slightly comical.

I'm sorry I didn't word this for you perfectly. Here... Let me help.
With the information I am aware OF about this case, the sum she won seems vulgar for the crime. I am however quite open to being convinced otherwise.
So, now that we have what should have been obvious out of the way, it is now your turn to convince me that she does in fact deserve that much. Since you are berating me for being honest and open about my lack of knowledge and placing my quick two cents angle... please help me to learn facts about this case that would convince me to think that 55 million bucks is reasonable.
I am not being tongue in cheek. I'm being literal. If you have a good argument, I'm ready to learn and change my angle.

I really don't feel the need to explain this case out to you. Especially when your original post said this. All you are missing in this post is "She should be thankful for the video going viral."

but at the end of the day, someone got 55 million for being seen against their will while naked. That's crazy.

Again, getting hung up on the dollar amount is pretty fricking stupid in this situation.
$55,000,000.... Video my naked white hairy arse so I can retire myself and 5 generations.

Good luck with that. This was a slam dunk case.

That has absolutely nothing to do with this case or the judgements. So let's stop with that rhetoric.

There are cases where people have lost limbs and lives do to gross negligence of an employee and they didn't sniff a million dollars to cover medical bills, much less help them in life.
Erin Andrews, who has a net worth of around 3 million dollars, got 55 million dollars because people saw some extremely blurring video of her dancing around naked?
That's absurd. The judgment is absurd. The hotel should have to pay something, sure, the filmer should be jailed for his crime, yes, but the actual value of the judgement is absolutely absurd.
And I have yet to see anyone defend the actually dollar figure amount.
What happened to her was wrong, the hotel should be punished, the person who did it jailed, and the employees who told him the info fired and fined.
No one is arguing those aren't truths. It's the actual 55 million dollar figure that is absolutely ridiculous.

IDK what EA was asking, but Marriott was foolish for not settling.

You have your answer.

The jury was probably permitted to take Mariott's $14 billion in annual revenue into account when giving their award. $55m is a piss drop in that bucket.

It's perfectly fine with me. No person should be subjected to an idiot and the hotel putting a man that requests to be next to them. That should raise red flags. I bet he paid off the person while checking in.

Several hotels employees gave the guy her room number and despite being forewarned she had a stalker that fit his description, accepted a cash bribe to place the stalker in the room next door?
You don't think the hotel, who gave their assurance to keep her real info secret isn't culpable?
The Marriott had the opportunity to settle without EA taking the stand for a lessor amount. But chose not to.
The award was punitive and the Marriott still got off cheap.

I have a very serious question, why does she keep clenching and squatting in her video?
If she didn't seem like a fricking ice queen, I would swear she's wearing a vibrating plug.

Ridiculous amount.
Nicole Brown Simpson was about the highest profile murder in U.S. history and her family got 12.5 million awarded. And she was gutted and nearly decapitated.
A super blurry video that you can barely tell who is being filmed that lasts a couple of minutes equals 55 million?

I'm sure no one heckled her relentlessly about it. Even today people post horrible comments on every one of her instagram pictures about the video. Her life ain't that easy.
Lost me there.
