Well considering it's a collective bargaining agreement ... Seems like both sides agreed to their compensation arrangement. If not the one side should have walked or held out...

Allegedly. He also is apparently a litigator and economist.

Hell yeah, mingo is an accountant/talent agent/union lawyer/economist/professional researcher. All areas specializing in women's sports, of course.

How he juggles it all is mind boggling. So brave.

Using your logic people would still be down mine shafts 16 hours a day with no safety equipment.

No, those people held out and forced market change because their absence had major financial implications.

I for one encourage the women’s team to quit playing to prove their point.

Here is the problem, that is such a minuscule part and fixing that will not end this “Equal Pay” nonsense.

It would for me, I have posted my opinions throughout the entire thread, not what they want.

quote:

They think they should be paid the same for World Cup appearances and World Cup wins. When in reality this is a FIFA issue and the men’s World Cup brings in absurd amount of revenue compared to the women.

I'm not sure that's correct, and even if they have said that, in reality it's a tactic to get a raise.

quote:

The entire argument of “Pay them” is not based around the problem with endorsements. It’s a fantasy land where people care about women’s soccer as much as men’s soccer and they should make as much as men regardless of what the financials say. If the financials don’t add up the men should take a pay cut to pay the women more. Their argument is not based in reality.

In the mainstream Twitter verse or whatever I totally agree, but in my opinion some of the lawsuit has merit.

This is different, but not totally dissimilar to any other bargaining agreement in other sports, and they're using the same tactics especially in the media to drum up support.

It's part of the game.

Exactly, the courts never got involved. I forgot about all those employments laws or case law over the last 140 years

Look, if they win the lawsuit over endorsements and claim “victory” and this end the whole saga, I’ll be thrilled.

In reality, there is always going to be someone on that team looking to be a victim.

I’ll ask again. What players isn’t the women’s team getting that are eligible and they want?

My only retort to that would be let's not act like that's exclusive to women. NBA and NFL players equate the owners to slave traders and they make a lot more than like 400k.

I think it's all ridiculous but the narrative that theyre just brats is not right either.

If they “win” it will have far reaching implications beyond a fricking soccer team no one really cares about.

100%

It’s not exclusive to athletes. Our society celebrates envy.

Well generally I am against equal pay if it isn’t warranted but they pull a lot of fans so they should be compensated as such. It should just be a percentage of whatever they draw. It’s not difficult.

TV rights, at least as FIFA put out bidding for U.S. television rights, is for both men and women. FIFA then decides how much of that goes to men and how much goes to.women. But the point is that bidding isnt separated to figure out "how much money they bring in."

And the USWNT Jersey has outsold any other soccer jersey, men or women, in the U.S. in any single year. Ever. Does that mean anything?

Argue all you want about "equal pay" because maybe it shouldnt yet be "equal" but the existing pay gap is ridiculously large, $400M to $30M (or thereabouts).

Curious, do people think men and women grand slam tennis tournaments shouldnt be paying equal amounts? I mean, men have to win three sets and women only need to win two! That's unequal work!

You might be an actual retard. You understand you’ve posted excerpts from random page one google searches you’ve conducted from sources that support your position?

Right?

You’ve added literally nothing to the conversation about the actual economic and financial implications such a decision would have.

You’re no better than a 22 year old feminist with twitter no matter what your bosses at H&R Block tell you.

Like I said it should just be a percentage of what the draw and TV. It shouldn’t be an issue.

Women need to get more women to watch women's sports if they want them to make more.

The demographic of men's sports is mostly....men. They buy tickets, they watch the shows, they buy the gear for the most part. Women need to support women leagues more if they want women athletes to get paid more.

Male models make FAR less than female models. Why? Because women care much more about fashion then men. They spend more money and have more eyeballs on related content.
