Can you imagine the size of the LOTO tag they have on that transmission line right now? Must be the size of a Volkswagen bus.

what's fricked up is that there was fighting going on between Entergy and the city council to to get approval for NOPS to be built, even Entergy apparently going as far as "using paid actors" to go lobby in the city council

So there damn there could be no NOPS there to provide a black start due to fricking idiots on new orleans city council and the entire city and surrounding areas would be down for 2 weeks instead of areas coming back within a few days

this article shows straight ignorance of both the media, the government, and the general populace around new orleans

https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/investigations/david-hammer/entergy-new-power-plant-electricity-hospitals/289-97565961-85d6-4079-b07e-2a367e56726e

people are seriously thinking that Entergy could flip a switch after the storm and get NOPS running

These politicians, at ALL levels, and other "interests" resorting to paid actors and what have you....to directly affect the lives of nearly EVERYONE in this world. Politics is fricked, people even moreso.

I’m no Entergy or monopoly utility fan, but their margins are regulated and are locked in and slim. Everything beyond that has to be spent on the system.

And that is the problem. They make 10% in profit over expenses. That includes infrastructure upgrades. It also includes repairs following disasters.

I am sure they have run the numbers and figured out that they can spend more money if they don't upgrade the system in any meaningful way and be "forced" to run overtime on the regular basis when La. gets hit by a hurricane.

They have to be forced by government regulation to upgrade their infrastructure.
