There is no such thing as a vertical beams....they are called columns...
. Of if they do handle axial and lateral loads, beam columns.

you got me, wasn't paying attention to what i was typing lol. Considering i do beam and column repairs/design on a daily basis i should know better lol.
Honestly I do this alot when typing fast. usually i catch myself.
