Emotional support dogs

Ok. The first time I have ever heard of an "Emotional Support Animal" I was talking with a friends daughter that's in college on the West coast and she referred to her roommate's dog. I asked her how were they able to have a dog in a college dormitory? She informed me that if a student went to a doctor, the doctor could prescribe an "emotional support animal" for the patient.
Now, I see on a previous thread that a passenger was bitten by an emotional support dog. I'm sorry but i would KILL the ESD to bring some much needed emotional support for myself.
I guess my questions are this: Is this NOT the biggest load of snowflake BS ever? How did we as a society ever get to this place? Have some people become this pile of weak jello? I keep thinking these are the same people that are driving on the interstate every morning when I'm otw to work.

I've got an ES hippo and, no, you can't see my permit/registration for it.

My emotional support Komodo dragon is the tits.
Every time I'm upset and I feel the desire to beat the shite out of someone, ole' Snowball helps me cope with my emotions by biting them. I can't go anywhere without that wonderful creature.

The absolute worst is when you see them in the airport with them. Unreal.

It never fails. No one has an original thought anymore.

I think there could be some valid reasons... PTSD, kid with autism, etc... but as usual most people are just blatantly abusing the situation.

no, not really. Being offended by words and inanimate objects (statues) is a bigger crock of shite than the need for an ESD.

probably around the time we started giving credibility to "PC" speech.
and ADD/ADHD. Its a crock of shite in most cases. But we've pandered to it, so now its real and legit.

and I would kill you for hurting my dog, thereby creating the need for more ESD animals.
Its a vicious cycle.

Mock their need all you want, but don't doubt for a second that having a dog is a gigantic anxiety reliever. Yeah - you are pudding if you can't get a coffee without your dog, but at least you are calm puddin'.
