Wow. Service dogs are generally well trained and that wouldn't happen. Unless the idiot owner just didn't let the dog go for a while before the flight.

The problem with this is they aren't specially trained service dogs for the most part. The lady I know with one just had her regular dog registered as one so she could take it everywhere with her. There are no training requirements and it's not the same as a service animal.

I might have chosen the wrong article to post because other articles indicated it was not a service dog, but just an emotional support dog....meaning there wasn't a damn thing wrong with the motherfricker that brought it on the plane.

This. I take a big offense to people labeling themselves "disabled" and in need of "support" for BS reasons because I have a special needs kid who deals with a lot of real issues. GTFO with the emotional support.

Saw a complete meltdown at the Rapides Parish Courthouse over this. Woman had a gigantic mastiff, and the deputies up front refused to let her thru to her court hearing. Eventually she got in, and that big assed dog sat next to her in court with no problems. Her ex looked a little scared though.

yep, and at the risk of slammation, a lot of "veterans" really work the system too

It's just going to get people against service animals in general and will make it even harder for people with real needs to go anywhere.

I don't know any veterans that aren't old. And none of them would be weak enough to bring a dog anywhere for emotional support.

I always thought post deployment that liquor and Asian back massages was my emotional support.

bingo, I'm referring to most recent crop, my uncle, a vet of almost every major Pacific battle in WWII, horribly wounded, had to resort to support animals, about 15-20 dogs to support him in the pursuit of racoons and deer

The Asians tend to those too.

Exactly. It's bad enough to see this lady I know do it. It's pathetic. But, I would have zero respect for man that does that. If you need help,by all means, please get it. But, if you need to pet a puppy to be out in public, you have bigger issues.

It's not as cut and dry as having balls or being a pussy. I have a friend who just can't deal with things emotionally as well as most people, and for a while my thinking was "man up and get over it". But some people just can't, as much as they want to. He got a dog a couple of years ago and it's really calmed him down a lot. He would never think about getting it registered so he could take it places, but it does work.

Dogs are great. They make wonderful companions. I'm not saying don't get a dog. But, registering it as a service animal and taking it to Home Depot with you so you don't freak over how very many types of screws there are is pathetic. And I think people that do that are looking for attention more than anything else.

And everyone knows the type that would take advantage of the service animal system.
"But she's like one of my children."

It's as simple as that. He is doing it right. It shouldn't be a free pass to take your dog anywhere it can fit, or maybe even not fit for that matter.

Bingo. That's the lady I know exactly. Talks to the dog all the time like it's a person. She's crazy but not because of her "social anxiety."
