For all we know, nuclear energy could be catastrophic to Mars or there may be aliens that feed on radiation. In the grand scheme of the entire universe, our little nuclear bombs aren’t as big and powerful as earthlings think.

Wouldn’t we need to give Mars a magnetic field too?

It gets up to 70 degrees on Mars at the equator and can hit 95 in the summer time. Sounds like a good spot to put the new 30A.

True.

But modern nukes could still frick up Mars. I'm forgetting the number, but I think we're talking 5,000 times stronger or something like that than Fat Man.

Our arsenal could easily end life as we know it on Earth.

They are pretty powerful though, they don't compete with cosmic events, but it seems unlikely a life-form could control that. And even if they did, it would probably take one which is living in a higher magnitude of understanding than what we think of as "intelligent life"

the easiest way to insert greenhouse gases and warm the Red Planet would be to drop nuclear weapons on its poles

Well, he's right?

There is no way to make Mars long term breathable atmosphere so why bother? It used to have an atmosphere like earth’s and there is a reason why it doesn’t anymore.

Well yeah. It lost it's magnetic field.

Well, they started probing us ever since we started setting them off, so I think they care.

How does dropping massive amounts of radiation good for living conditions? Can someone inform my ignant arse?
I'm guessing because he expects that it if the idea to nuke the Martian poles to produce greenhouse gasses and create a hospitable atmosphere was successful, then it would take at least a few decades for the planet to be terraformed and for humans to plant vegetation to support a permanent colony. So by the time all that happened, radiation levels would have decreased.

I like him staying in the media. Such a cool person with a great mind.
I've heard far more grandiose and incredibly exhilarating ideas from stoners on the floor at a Jimmy Buffet concert.
