I don't know how to make it any simpler.

Lighting is the least of your concerns. A/C, electric heat and electric hot water are the vast majority of your electric bill.

It's not possible. I usually just loosen all but one of the light bulbs in the ceiling fans. They're not gonna get changed unless I do it so maybe it saves a dollar or 2.

Thinking about putting motion detectors on the lights in the bedrooms and bathrooms...

Her parents should have done this when she was a kid. First thing most kids learn is to turn a light off when you leave the room...

Show her the electric meter outside. Explain how every time the dial completes a circle it costs money. The faster it spins, the more money it costs.

Tried that. Tried showing her the bill. Brought out a utility guy to show us how to economize. Showed her huge cancelled checks from the utility company. Tried drawing diagrams, formulas, equations, simple math ...

And here I am.

Try explaining to a woman that lowering the thermostat temperature does NOT make the AC blow any cooler

Correct, all you have to do is explain it like you would to a young child.

I'm in charge of paying all the bills. So I'm good about keeping electricity bill as low as possible.

About to be 3pm....3-6 pm is higher energy peak time with our electricity plan. No washing clothes, using vacuum, dishwasher, etc during 3-6 pm...except on weekends and holidays.

I deduct light bill from her allowance. When she can't buy a pretty dress, the lesson is learned

So you just had to butt in and spoil what was turning out to be a pretty good men's rant against wimmens. Thanks.

Why do all women turn on a freaking hallway light to walk down it and as they return, leave it on? Day or night, same shite.
