The "correct" breaker will be whatever breaker operates the nearest circuit for other light. Each circuit will operate several light fixtures in the house.
However, I agree with the others that the OP should not try this. Could get yourself hurt or someone else hurt. Poor wiring can get someone killed in the near term or even years down the road.

Need to install a light fixture in a house and have very little electrical knowledge. No light fixture there currently.
Just turn the light switch off. Don't worry about the breaker.

Just turn off the main and hook up the light
This, it's not a search for a head coach.

If the ends of the electrical wires hav a wire nut on it, unscrew one, put the fixture wire next to the exposed wire and screw down the wire nut.
Repeat for the other wire.
Attach fixture and use.

You die.
But save a few dollars by not paying an electrician.

Is there a light switch that goes to the box? Or is it just a junction box?

Turn off all the breakers.....or go buy an electric sensor probe....aka idiot stick. You touch a wire with it and it beeps if it's hot....bout $20 at home depot or lowes.

Light is done. Turned off all the breakers. No one got killed. Very disappointing.
