Don't they have to lower the rates to compensate if they raise the property values?
My understanding of property taxes is that when they are passed they are passed for a fixed amount (ex. $200m for sewer) and then they come up with the rates to get to that amount.

Go to the ebr parish assessors website...click on assessments and millages...then click on view your assessment.

Yes. have my assessment on my desk and will be calling after lunch today to request and appeal.
My appraisal went up 16.3%
same floor plan on my street sold 6 months ago for $17,500 less then the appraised value

YOu can also zoom in on the digital maps and check out all of your friends property value.

Are these assessments based on the value of the land only or the land + home?
