Yeah no, most polls show 70%+ of teachers want to go back into the classroom. So continue to believe the media and Facebook

Nope, they want all teachers using the same programs with an understanding on how to use the programs. They could have called teachers to summer training but that would have cost them. So they can use the start of the year and remove some emergency days that are built into the schedule.

The protest is still a go no matter what the school system announces between now and then, organizers say.

If the EBR teachers that I know are any sign, the turnout will be crap. They don't want to do virtual teaching and want to return to school.

Well, that 70% must have forgot to tell their union about it. That, or the union has hijacked that 70%.
I agree that most teacher probably do want to go back to classroom teaching. Particularly those with young kids who have also had to work from home while also taking care of their children. Nonetheless, the most vocal among them don't want to go back to school anytime soon...and with a government already drunk on on power shutting down or restricting things in apparent perpetuity, it doesn't take much to give them a reason to keep prolonging a return to school. Ultimately, the public school teachers aren't all that concerned because they aren't seeing a reduction in pay or benefits...at all
