Went a few summers ago and it's a great time. Lots of cool vendors as well

Were you with the Knights? I was with them 1998-2000.

We know some of the same people then .... although I'm quite a bit before your time, assuming that you were on Ardenes for at least a few years before making the team?

Your tent is supposed to be within the footprint of your airplane. That is why most set up either behind or in front of the wing. I would put my tent between the wing and the empennage.

They don’t let airplanes on the roads up there. That’s a misnomer.

Same advice I got when going to Green Bay.

Green Bay has a much better hotel selection than Appleton, but if you’re talking about a Packers weekend when GB hotels are booked up, that would make sense.

ETA: Wisconsin is awesome in the summer. The Northwoods are unreal, and the people are some of the friendliest you could meet, and they like to party.

I’m in the Biz / Gen Av industry but have never attended. my dad flies his airplane into Sun and Fun every year which is the like The Florida Oshkosh

I love aviation but airplanes dominate my work week and I’m not trying to have that bleed over into vacations

No, I was flying them around. I did get some jumps in with them at Yuma. Definitely one of the best gigs I had in the army!

Yuma was always a trash packing jump fest.

Yuma was how we stuffed our jump logs ... sometimes getting ten or more pages booked in a couple of weeks. It was always a great time but you could just about always count on a full and partial ... which was good training but we had some mishaps too. Lid mounted cameras we large back then, not the little cubes these days. So I've seen some wicked entanglements in Yuma.

We just didn't give a fat baby's arse back then.
