Funny how the British loser Monty who was absolutely shown his place by Patton in Africa wants to talk about R.E. Lee.

Only thing Eisenhower did that I really wish he hadn't was put "God" on the currency and and "under God" in the pledge. I am not an Atheist either.

Founding Fathers would not have wanted that. Separation of church and state and all.

I get it was part of the "cultural war" on Communism, which was "godless" and at the time seemed like a great idea.

It has nothing to do with the Lost Cause. Robert E. Lee would have been a famous historical figure without the Civil War. He was the son of Light Horse Harry Lee, a Revolutionary War hero, distinguished himself in the Mexican-American War, led the raid on Harpers Ferry and was superintendent of the United States Military Academy.

Anyone whose ever studied the life of Robert E. Lee knows this is correct. Perhaps his greatest service to the country came after the Civil War. Thr full study of this great man’s life should be standard curricula in every high school history class.
