You're the idiot. He wanted you to give him one of the $20 bills. He gets a nice tip and you're $10 richer. If the manager says anything, he would say it's all a mistake.

Then the homeless man could buy weed with it. The cycle continues.

Tip him $20 and keep the rest. Everyone wins. Until he gets fired.
"Everyone wins"? REALLY??? Everyone except for the poor SOB that actually owns the yogurt shop!

I would punch myself in the face for buying a single serving of yogurt for almost six dollars because you don't become an OT baller by throwing away money like this.

just return the money and give him a hard time. 100% mention something about being high at work.

I hope you returned the money.

The fact that high school age kids can’t subtract 84 from 100 and 6 from 20 in their heads is the scariest part of this story.

Kids from SoCal aren’t the brightest. One guy within the last year asked me if parts of Nola were still flooded from Katrina. Another seriously thought every white person had a rebel flag on their car/truck and at their home in the south. It’d be the equivalent to me assuming every person from L.A. gets plastic surgery and fricks on camera as a hobby

When did Randall move to San Diego?

NOT REALLY....
The scariest part is that high school age kids, and many others, don't even realize you don't have to subtract ANYTHING to properly count change.
You simply count up!
In hopes that this might reach one cashier somewhere out there...
Take this yogurt example...It's $5.84, and they give you a $20.
Start at 5.84, a penny makes it 5.85, a nickel makes in 5.90, and a dime makes it 6.00.
On to the dollar bills, 7.00, 8.00, 9.00 and 10.00
Then grab a 10 dollar bill to make it $20.
And like MAGIC you've properly arrived at $14 dollars and 16 cents change without ever entering the complex world of subtraction.
NOW FOR THE REAL ADVANCED MOVE! That's how you count it back to the customer.
The kid should have told him 5.84, hand him the 16 cents and say that makes 6...Count out the ones individually, 7,8,9 and 10...then give him the ten and say that makes 20!
This is as basic as it gets but I honestly can not remember the last time I've witnessed anyone properly count change back to someone.

Give him the money and get correct change. You don't want karma coming back for that cash.
