Rookie move. In the rare emergency I need to sleep in my car, I sleep in the passenger seat and say my DD went into bang a girl he met.

The biggest problem with this is that it creates a disincentive for the guy who had a few to pull over and sleep it off. You may as well try to make it home if you get a DWI either way

Thank God and rock & roll. Now what does this have to do with drinking?

Not to be obvious but have folks not heard of lawyers? This it what they are for.

In Louisiana it is possible to get convicted of DUI even if not driving. It's kind of a totality of the circumstances thing, whether they can proved you operated the vehicle while under the influence. They take a liberal view of the word "operating" Bc it's not actually Driving but operating under the influence.

This is why I always drive home hammered. frick sleeping it off on the side of the road.

I would have a field day with that interpretation.

Louisiana State Police provide the machines for all the parishes.
I'm assuming he's talking about the ignition interlocks. Not the Intoxolyzers. The interlock companies make a pretty penny.
Individual LE agencies might own the Intoxlyzers. Not sure. LSP services and certifies them.

Yep, Lafourche sheriff owned the one in Terrebonne parish, had a suit filed and now his "son in law" "owns" the company ........ Smart Starts are all over and other companies, definitely not owned by the State Police......

You can also get a DUI for drinking a beer while on a riding lawnmower, bicycle or skateboard. My buddy passed out in the passenger seat of his truck in a parking lot one night and was woken up to a cop giving him a DUI and it stuck.

My buddy's neighbor sits in his boat parked in the driveway and drinks most evenings.

My friend got a DUI sleeping in the driver's seat after a night out. He got screwed trying to make a good decision and not drive.

Had a buddy get charged with DUI after he had parked and vacated the vehicle.
Cop saw him walking along a tree line spotlighting deer, pulled over to ask him what he was doing, and popped him with a DUI.
Wasn't in the car and cop didn't ever see him in the car. Charges were reduced eventually though.

Go back to heckling coaches at the airport.

Yeah, if you give your car keys to someone you reasonably should know is drunk and they get pulled over you get a dui too. Governments know how to get money.
