Nah, it's way more expensive than that. Factor in the gas that you will spend going to these wonderful meetings and factor in the lost wages because you are somewhere you shouldn't be (meetings for being drunk) and you should be making money instead of spending money. Also, you will lose a few friends because you will need to be driven everywhere and they will resent you. The only way you recoup any of this money is the money that you save by not buying your alcohol. Like the advertising sign says on the interstate.... DWI? You just BLEW $10,000.

My dui was $10k
My best friend's was $1100.
I did pre trial, big shot lawyer, etc.
She did public defender and pled 894.
While pre trial allows another dui (which will never happen) to be a first offense for me, there's not much other difference between where her and I ended up.
But a lawyer was helpful for things like my license.
I never lost my license.

Paid around 10k.
Didn't blow.
Lawyer got it reduced to reckless op. Used article 892.1 to expunge reckless op charge. Kept license.
I think it was worth it. frick doing all the pretrial BS and having a breathalyzer.
