This. I would love someone explain to me how this incident has anything to do with her abilities as a doctor.
Eventually the lines all do blur together. You can only play with fire so long before you get burned.
Plenty of medical professionals have gotten into trouble coming into work still hung over from the night before.
This does not apply to an occasional "night" out, but more to the people who make it a regular life style.
I believe a person has a right to go out and have a good time in their free time, but getting drunk on the weekend is not the same as getting drunk during the week. Also, I do believe that a medical professional should be held to a high standard because of their responsibilities.

It doesn't justify the internet stealing her identity, ruining her career, or terrorizing her for the foreseeable future. One is not like the other.
agreed.

Ok, and as said earlier that'd be fine.
Nope, not okay. She should be treated the same in that situation as a 6'2 220lb man.

Link? I don't recall reading that she went into work hungover.

So this incident really says nothing about her abilities as a doctor. However because she's a doctor and was an a-hole drunk, you feel justified in making sure she never works as a doctor again. Did I miss anything? I would like to reiterate this happened off the clock, and not in the service of any medical duties.

So send her arse to jail for drunk and disorderly and let her deal with the consequences. There's zero reason for the internet SJW's to get involved here.

Consequences from the internet mob? Forgive me if i have a hard time belieivung they are interested in helping the driver out. They feel justified in running someone's life because their peers say its ok. You're describing a Lynch mob.
You don't have to agree with the consequences. Whether you like it or not, that is the world we live in today. You can accept it or try to change things...good luck with the latter.

What, in your definition of freedom, disagrees with any of this?

People going out of their way to deliver their own form of justice is vigilantism. Like I said, this is no different than the Lynch mobs of old. And you think this is freedom?
Maybe you can try and explain how her being an a-hole drunk off the clock should disqualify her from being a doctor?

It was not a comment directed at her, it was a general statement supported by the rest of my post.

You missed a lot, because once again, I never said any of this. As a matter of fact I am on record in this thread several times saying it sucks for her. However, she brought it upon herself.

Once again, I agree. On record several times in this thread as saying that I do agree with Chan and Reddit doing what the did. Completely uncalled for.
You seem to be looking for a fight, but your fight is not with me friend.

It's slightly different in the fact that they're not hanging anyone.
All they're doing is making shite public. Unless some 4chan guy dedicates his life to getting on the board at Miami Medical and getting her license revoked, them they're not doling out justice, they're just shaming her for being a count. Stop acting like they showed up at her house with torches.

Agree with all of this. Aside from all of that, do you want to go to a physician who goes out 3 times a week and drinks a bit, and maybe once out of those times gets drunk? I don't. I simply couldn't believe that person is at the top of their game enough to trust them with my personal health.

Its the world today. As a "doctor", she should have known better, and had she not got into the car a second time, it would have still been bad, but it would have ended.

Bunch of Jesus loving, never drinking, bubble boys that never left the house in this thread. A lot of people pretending like they haven't ever done a single a-hole-ish thing while they were drunk and are perfect little angels
It's a lot like bitching at people for drinking and driving, when you drank and drove "only buzzed" the night before
It obviously wasn't bad enough for the driver or cops to make a big deal about. She paid the guy. Now you have 10,000 jealous basement dwellers trying to ruin her life because she is making something of herself and their whole lives revolve around a computer
Eta: All of this bullshite wouldn't stop me from hiring her if she is a quality doc. Maybe I'm just not a bandwagon fig though. She got drunk, did something stupid, cool. Life goes on. I'd stand up for my choice to employ her.
BTW, there are A LOT of doctors/surgeons that shock me with how much they drink and do drugs
I'm not religious, cocktail making is a hobby, and I was ordered to attend substance abuse counseling myself thanks to some youthful misjudgments on my part while I was in college. Thankfully I never assaulted anyone or did anything else to harm another person or their property. I did wind up in the ER, though.
She fricked up and did awful things that are inexcusable. She needs to go to counseling so she can learn and grow from her mistakes, and so she can reestablish herself as a trustworthy and responsible physician.

Jesus Christ. Didn't the lynch mobs of old, you know, lynch people?
You don't need to be so melodramatic.

quote:What's ironic about that? I speak from experience. I enjoyed recreational drugs too much in college and got myself into a bad situation. My university determined that I violated the student code of conduct and required me to attend counseling, and I appreciate their intervention.
Oh the irony.
Learning from your experience and mistakes makes you wise, not hypocritical or ironic.

First I want to say that this is not an attack on you, but you seem to be taking this very personally. Ever have a similar incident happen to you?
Do I care if people come after me for it? No. Can I stick up for myself? Yes. I've always stood up for "the little guy" that I feel is getting attacked. In this case, it's a bunch of losers with nothing going for them being jealous of a good looking, hard working, successful girl. She got drunk and did something stupid. So what?
