If you have a drone for personal use, it doesn't have to be registered. I'm sure this will change soon though

I want a drone but know I would use it a time or two and that would be it.

I did find out today that there is a new industry of people using drones to go out and take photos of roofs for banks on their repos and for insurance companies. They then sell this info to the adjusters or contractors to submit bids on the roof jobs.

I know there is a company named Eagle View that does something similar with satellite images now but I imagine drones are more accurate and will have more up to date condition photos.

One of my good friends started an aerial photography company that uses drones to take pictures, 3D models, videos, etc for industrial and commercial purposes. He actually is one of 3 or 4 people in the entire state that were granted exemption by the FAA. I'm sure there's some stuff online about the exemption, it's LandBros Aerial Photography if you're interested.

You can do some really cool stuff with certain types of software that blew my mind. He flew a few laps around the General Lee statue last weekend, uploaded it to a computer using some program, and made a to scale model of it using a 3D printer.

I have one and would never use it if I didn't have a friend that was obsessed with them. If I'm not with him the thing never leaves a table in my office

Thanks. I will keep it mind.

I use Eagleview to submit bids to banks in states I don't have a contractor to go do the measuring but it gets expensive. The only thing is that they offer a full-service package and will even figure the materials for the jobs with a guarantee. I am interested in other alternatives though because I can do the material take off myself.

Here's a cool video he put together for the sponsors of some offshore fishing tournament. The quality people can get with those cameras still surprises me

Question: how do prisoners light cigarettes without lighters? Like we all know cigarettes and swisher sweets are like currency in prison. But these things are useless if they don't have lighters. How do they light them? There's gotta be some smoking addict charging a half a pack of swisher sweets to penetrate him, but how does he light it?

In the jail that I worked in, inmates would strip the wires from headphones, strip ends and middle of a short piece of wire, take a AA or AAA battery and hold the ends of the wire to each end of the battery. The middle of the wire heats up from the electrical charge like a car cigarette lighter and Voila!
