Ice and snow will not deter us
Ah-ah, ah!
Ah-ah, ah!
We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the Hot Springs flow
The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde, sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming
On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore
Ah-ah, ah!

disagree, less friction, if you can find a nice icy stretch of road and can accelerate up to 100-115mph you will be making gas, almost as if you are powered by nuclear reactor
Found the Russian!

Just be careful , I tried to drive today and couldn’t get the suburban out of my driveway due to the ice under the snow ( hidden ice).
It’s out there on the streets too unless they’ve sanded or salted the streets , more snow coming too

Don’t drive on ice
Have front wheel or 4 wheel for pack snow
Powder snow is not horrid to drive in if not deep

Usually makes conditions worse day 2 due to refreeze

Are you supposed to engage the part-time 4x4 on pickup trucks when roads are slick? Mine has an "auto" setting but it is questionable as to how well it switches.

Yes leave it alone. You want the front wheels going for certain. But if it’s ice it won’t matter
Always drive slower and turn into your skid

Chevy? If so leave it in auto in icy conditions. I have driven one in really slick conditions and it performed well

I just ran to Kroger to get a few more essentials and the amount of idiots driving are crazy. 2wd vehicles spinning tires everywhere, people going too fast to stop, running past stop signs. I made sure to park in the back of the parking log so some idiot wouldn't slide into my truck trying to park is Camry.

Lots of good advice in this thread but the #1 thing that cannot be overstated is just
STAY HOME
Unless absolutely necessary, all you're doing is tempting fate to frick you up.
I won't touch ice, but snow is usually not an issue. If it's deep enough that I'm unaware of the conditions (how much ice is underneath) then I put it in 2nd gear and inch along at 10-20 mph. Even gliding to a stop with barest feather of a touch on the brakes, you can still sometimes hit a slick underneath and run 6-10 feet into an intersection, hence the advice to just stay the frick home if possible. Slush mix from snow melt can be almost as bad as ice and much more plentiful.
Every fricking idiot plowing ahead at 55 mph deserves to end up in a ditch, I just pray they don't kill anyone on their way there.

Yeah, it seems to work pretty well so far. I always kept it in 2WD because 4x4 in dry pavement conditions is bad for it so I didn't want it cutting on.

I lived in Seattle for a while, and ice/snow there is about the same as snow in Atlanta or Texas. People freak out.
Seattle is very hilly, and it was fun and terrifying to just watch cars and buses uncontrollably slide all the way to the bottom. We were screaming at cars making turns off of the level main streets, but they didn't listen. Once they made the turn, their fate was sealed.
In some cases, it was like that Austin Powers steamroller scene... nooooooooooooooooo... slow motion disaster.
