The company that brought us phones that catch fire will also cause power outages in Houston this weekend thanks to their drill ship.

quote:

The route of an unusually oversized load being transported along roads from Spring Branch to Bayport is behind schedule after several obstacles -- including an accident involving two of its police escorts. The route of the large crate is expected to cause intermittent power outages throughout the weekend, according to CenterPoint Energy. The cause of the planned outages affecting a dozen Houston-area municipalities lies halfway around the world. Samsung Heavy Industries has ordered a drilling ship, reported ABC, which is being transported to South Korea in three gigantic crates -- the largest of which is 135 feet long, 27 feet high and 24 feet wide.

quote:

The load is so large that the manufacturing and moving companies have had to coordinate with first responders and utilities before transport. CenterPoint Energy has planned short outages along the route lasting between 30 minutes and two hours to prevent the shipment from hitting electrical equipment

They are moving this type of ship packed in 3 giant boxes from where’s it made to the port here to be shipped to South Korea.

Wish there was a picture cause I don’t understand what, exactly, is going to happen.

Sounds like it's so big it's going to likely make contact with electrical lines and the like. So they'll have to power off the grid to allow it to pass.

3 boxes would become 3000 boxes near the New Orleans zoo.

And you apparently broke the frick machine in the process. You were told to use lube on yourself when using such a large drill-bit on the highest speed.

Need to use lube baw. From what I hear was like the green mile/dry sponge type of situation.

Also loosened the hole up so much that even the largest BBC frick machine no longer needs to drill to get in there.

What a terrible description.

It is parts of a chemical injection skid and not a drill ship.

CI skid? So it's for a production facility I am assuming, not a drillship.

It is coming from W Industries. The last I heard is the movement last night didn’t get half way of what was originally planned.

It is for Mad Dog 2 for BP. Definitely not a drill ship.
