Increased homestead exemption. The previous decade we have been doing a good job of repealing taxes in this state.

When? I don't remember one recently.

My point is that I'd love all state taxes rolled into one giant sales tax. We'd have protests in the streets and riots at the capital when they wanted to increase it.

Instead, we pay all of these separate taxes that we don't realize that add up to more than many other states are paying for much more functional government.

People that have their birth paid for by the government, food and shelter paid for every month. Their entire lives they are paid and never get a job and are given monthly for the rest or their lives for whatever they want to spend it on and it expands exponentially with every kid born and future leaches.

They have a vote and a large chunk of your paycheck going to them to support their lifestyle.

Totally reasonable.

So 35% of the voting base can vote on a tax increase they won't have to contribute to. Good point. That's a big number when it only takes 51% to pass.

I'm with you bro.

I'm 35 minutes from the state line. I can do my shopping in MS.

Just saying, your plans are very poorly thought out.

My thoughts are that people don't understand what they are paying for. If they did, they'd be more upset about it.

Your statement made the assumption that 35% of renters are too ignorant to realize they will be absorbing the tax increase.

The tax system is deceptive on purpose. Knowing how much you pay isn't going to change behaviors that much.

We are a welfare society. From the urban stereotype living off a government check to the suburban Magaman who needs TOPS to afford college for his kids and drives 40 miles one way to work on roads the gas tax could never cover.

I am a registered Republican, but consider myself Independent, but I understand how that works. If you don't follow the platform of a party to a T then you are on the other side. That's cult mentality.

Its funny when OWL calls me a retard..

I understand some issues more than others, because I care more about some issues than others. But I can assure you, the issues i do care about I understand both sides and I base my opinion on all the information I gather.

I just don't follow a platform and pick a side because that's the side "I am supposed to go with".
