It's not so much a fear as it is you have alter your lifestyle.
Don't be out walking or jogging after dark. Be careful where you turn, don't want to take an accidental wrong turn. Be careful of your surroundings when walking to your parked car. Avoid downtown if you can.
I mean, you should probably be alert of your surroundings anywhere, but it's not at the forefront of your mind like it is in NOLA. Just saying

so would putting a unlocked car in the middle of the 7th ward be considered baiting?

Ah. Another New Orleanian "go-to" phrase to defend the city. If you're concerned about the crime, your'e a PUSSY!

I promise you, the average NOLA resident does not live in a constant state of fear like you are describing
jesus man
and what is wrong with downtown?

Yes. You would however be able to ask them to stop talking during a movie, their reaction would tell you if they were in fact a qualified wild hyena hoodrat.

And I've stated living in safe podunk town X doesn't seem like a high quality of life for what I would like to get out of it.
New Orleans is one of the most dangerous cities in the country. There are many, many safer cities that offer far better quality of life. To people that live in those places, New Orleans is the podunk shithole.
I left almost a decade ago and couldn't be happier.

Even so, I feel like I know the area well enough to where I could safely live my life without managing to get murdered.
I may no live here forever; I have no idea where work will take me. I am willing to risk it currently though.

This. I'm not sure why so many people are calling people pussies or stupid for stating this fact.

Can you put your kids in public school?

Can you not fricking read? Are you handicapped? I've stated that safety could be a reason someone wouldn't want to live here a multitude of times.

I am not reading through 16 pages to get answer.
Did the person ordering the pizza call to see what the hell was taking so long to get their pizza?
If not, I would assume the cops are starting with that suspect?

He had not completed the delivery when he was killed, Tedesco said, adding that the delivery destination was not far from where he was found.

I walk around all the time, generally never use my vehicle on weekends, it's a wonder I haven't been murdered yet. guess it's only a matter of time

There is no point arguing with these yokels.

I agree. I can totally understand why people would be proud of where they live and defend it. What is the amazing part that I find so interesting is the people on the other side of the conversation. The ones who hate it with a passion. It's funny how mad some are over something that as nothing to do with them.

I've been the one on the receiving end of personal attacks and ad hominem.
Anyway, let's get back to the subject of the thread.
So was he far away from his deliveries or not? He lived in the area, so maybe he was trying to stop at home for something real quick? Any new news?
