if you are trying to refer to the original version of woke vs the current version then you may need to read something besides cnn.com/msnbc.com.
I am not here to educate you. do your own research.

Catholic schools have found their place in New Orleans in no small part because they slot in between public schools and expensive private ones. They are seen as more disciplined and “safer” than public schools while being less expensive than private schools
Correct.
But it's also why as public schools "improve", and tuition costs go ever higher, they are struggling. Families who send their kids to Newman or McGeehe or Country Day etc, tuition cost simply does not matter. They can easily afford whatever it is.
But the Catholic Schools in NOLA were always there to serve the middle class. They are pricing themselves out of the middle class.
One post said that part of the issue is the nuns aren't around anymore. People forget that not only did the nuns impose discipline, they also worked for basically free...

Those aren’t lay people - those are clergy
We are lay people

Okay I’ll take the fall on that one. I meant clergy.

Agree that the Lakefront area in a much safer area than the ghettos surrounding DHS but please remember that the street name is Allen Toussaint Blvd. Can’t have streets named after white folks anymore.

What? You defend leftist policies on here to the bitter end. Plenty of times your liberal views come out wrapped in defending Nola no matter what so maybe that's why it appears that way.
I guess you didn't vote for Biden and don't do politics or whatever the usual moderate centrist answer is on here. Carry on.

These days, I know of absolutely no kids not getting in, and really, no wait lists. (Jesuit occasionally has a small one).
there are tons of kids cant get in bc of their scores....has nothing to do with numbers....they have the seats....but they cant take some kids bc of scores...not to mention to HAVE to live in Orleans Parish to attend Lusher.....I'm not sure about Hynes, Audubon and BF

Another reason we chose DHS. My daughter actually likes structure and discipline. She thrives in it.
MCA and DHS are both great schools that offer different experiences. The kids that go to DHS tend to be more academically motivated. That doesn’t mean MCA doesn’t do a fine job, but there are definitely differences.
Plus, the brown school has been getting their asses kicked in athletics by DHS lately.
I can tell you how it was in the 90s when I was in high school, and it seems like from these posts it hasn't changed much.
DHS was more of the smart girls, the preppy girls, the ones who were very prim and proper on the surface but were absolute freaks when you got them alone and/or a few drinks in them.
MCA girls were more of the laid back type, the type to come over and just chill, eat pizza, and watch football / swim / etc. They were definetly more school spirited, probably because of the class mascots.

Are 8th grades a big thing in NOLA? Most BR high schools don’t have them or at least don’t have large ones.
Don't have 8th grade??
