I don’t know anyone that goes to St Martin that doesn’t already live in Kenner or West Metairie
Also, her parents live out there so they do afternoon carpool

Some of the older Dominican sisters, what few are left, are less than proud. Sadly, most of the few are woke.
Talk about pulling stuff out of your arse, you must’ve gone to Jesuit.

I doubt this seriously. No layperson is mad about a conservative catholic politician being appointed to one of the most important positions in the government.

Even if there was any modicum of truth to the claims, I don’t think that makes them or the school “woke”. Y’all are so dramatic.

maybe I don’t know anyone who lives in NOLA and works in NOLA then why say stupid things?
Because anyone in the metro area can have an opinion. It’s not like I wouldn’t know, I had cousins that went to Jesuit and MCA and a sister who went to Cabrini who all lived in Metairie and Chalmette

I just said that - logistically speaking -if you live and work in NOLA - why send a kid to school in Jeff parish? Then you said I don’t know anyone who lives in NOLA - ok so you don’t know what people do
quote:yeah - I had cousins all over the place, too. One set of cousins who are sisters - the older two went to chapelle and the youngest went to Mt Carmel. I had cousins at Cabrini, Brother Martin, Jesuit, Ursuline, etc. I think that’s the case with most ppl from the area.
I had cousins that went to Jesuit and MCA and a sister who went to Cabrini
Except ACB - all of them went to Dominican

The claims that DHS were ashamed of ACB and pressured into a statement or something? Multiple people with children enrolled there have responded in this thread saying that never happened. Go back and read.

Good luck getting into Lusher or Ben Franklin. Not private schools but you still need to test in
When I went to a NOLA catholic HS in the mid 90s, I knew a LOT of kids who didn't get in because of grades / behavior / testing. And most of the bigger ones had a wait list.
These days, I know of absolutely no kids not getting in, and really, no wait lists. (Jesuit occasionally has a small one).

I guess I was naive thinking there wasn’t this stuff happening at the pricey catholic schools. My other daughter left her school and went to public (Metairie) for maybe one semester and ran back. She couldn’t tolerate what was going on at the public school with the blatant drugs and drinking, lots of trashy girls, etc. Same seemed to be happening at DHS minus the trashy living, just on the down low.
There are two differences between NOLA-area catholic schools and NOLA-area public schools.
1) The price tag on the drugs
2) The money to hide / cover it up

I don't need to. My daughter was in the system and graduated a few years ago.

I guess that depends on your definition of layperson. Your side has gone completely off the rails over supreme court justices the last few years that were picked by Trump.

Reject lists at all catholic schools are way smaller than prekatrina
But years ago other schools fed off Jesuit’s reject list. Now that number is below 300
No clue about waiting lists

I need to explain that laypeople in the Catholic Church are not woke?
Maybe my definition of woke is different, idk. Care to expound upon what would make a nun woke?

My daughter goes to DHS, and I am involved with the school quite often. It’s not woke, and neither my daughter or myself are “woke”. It is still the best academic girls catholic school and is pretty dominant in sports.
People on here are talking shite just to talk shite and don’t know wtf they are talking about. Enrollment is down, that’s true. It is less to do with politics than it does with the school’s location. The school is also actively developing and marketing campaign, and to deal with any perceived or actual crime, has trained armed guards.
DHS recently had some kind of recruiting night for rising 7th graders. A few of my daughter's friends were going, and they invited my daughter to tag along, so she did. We ended up picking up the girls at the end of the night.
There were several guards, and quite a few dads, walking around the parking lot keeping an eye on things, which I appreciated. Becuase while I would not worry about being there during the day, it's absolutely a part of town that could have issues at night.
When we asked the girls how the night went, they all said the same thing... the girls running it (I'm guessing current students) were all very snobby and not really all that friendly. They did say they enjoyed touring the school and playing games.
The "woke" thing made me laugh, because the parents I know who are considering sending their daughters there (and who invited my daughter to tag along) are about as far from woke as you can get.

Priest, brother, deacon, nun. It’s easily defined.

You’d be hard pressed to find a practicing catholic upset about a conservative SC justice.
Edit: clarifying I meant clergy, not lay people. My bad.
