When a doorbell sounds on TV, even when it sounds nothing like our doorbell, she still thinks it's time to kill.

Make it make sense.

They are in protect mode. Mine did it until she was too old to give a shite. Or maybe too old to hear.

Same. As she got older she started looking at me as soon as there was a doorbell sound. If I didn't move she just put her head back down. Now she's deaf so she doesn't give a shite one way on another

People who decide to put doorbell sounds in commercials and TV shows should be sentenced to 25 years hard labor.

I should've named my dog Bob....

Fricking Bob Barker.... Bitch will bark at anything...

I've had three labs, she's by far is the one who barks the most, drives me nuts... I'll never own a Chocolate again...

They can be trained. We started early on saying “tv” when a bell rings on tv. She learned the difference after a while

I don't even have a doorbell and both of my dogs go apeshit when they hear one on a commercial.

I hate the ones with clock alarms... it's bad enough hearing it in the mornings, much less relaxing in the evening watching TV.

Is your dog a dachshund by chance?

If only. 3/4 Euro Great Dane and 1/4 Dutch Shepherd. It is a very, very loud and alarming bark. At this point, he probably thinks, "shut the frick up!" means "good job!".

Dogs are outside animals. Why do you live inside a dog house?

Another thought. My dog, and every dog I've ever had, absolutely loves visitors. Will even piss in excitement and exuberance upon the visitor's crossing of the threshold. Why then is every door knock or doorbell a Satan Alarm, when every single time it's a friendly encounter?

My dog is a crazy little pup, but surprisingly doesn't bark at the doorbell. He only barks his ferocious little bark when hes playing.

Nah. You actually need to be trained. It will take. That’s giving up.
