Don't pay your last months rent when you decide to move. Give up the security deposit.

Was/is there something in the wall/floor that he might have been trying to get into. The dog didn't just up and do this all of a sudden for no reason. With that said, you might want to go to home depot or lowes and ask someone there.. It might not be as bad of a fix as you think.

Needs to check the lease. If you don't pay last month and are evicted or skip, you forfeit the deposit most places so it can't be used towards damages.

Is it common for them to find any reason to keep your security deposit? But in this guy's situation. If he fixes the problem, when he moves out and they assess the apartment, even if you can barely notice something happened, despite the fact he fixed it, will most places still trying to make a case to keep the deposit?

Happened to me in college. Carpet guy cut it out square, then cut a piece the same size from a closet, put the good piece in the bedroom and combed it to blend, and the torn up piece back in the closet. Landlord did not notice.

Can't keep the whole deposit. Can only keep what the cost was to fix it.

Now if there's urine anywhere in that carpet the deposit plus some is gone.

I wouldn't worry about it. Believe it or not, most apartment complexes replace the carpet anyways whether it's in good condition or not. That's what the deposit is for. But if you're still going to be living there a while I'm sure you can search YouTube

Exercise your dog. The lack of exercise is why this happened.

Never saw a husky that did better in the summer than in the winter. How cold has it been?!?
