Does your HOA have any Christmas light regulations?

Most of my neighborhood is tastefully lit with white lights.

One house down the street goes all out with inflatable shite, moving stuff, etc.

I dont mind it but apparently some debbie downers complained and want to have some guidelines.

Most HOA's are full of trashy people, reason why they have rules (even if there are nice houses).

And no, I don't live in a HOA.

If it's not in the covenant restrictions, the debbie downers can eat a dick and like it. Nothing they can do about it.

yes, and I wish they were tighter. We don't need any Clark W. Griswald's running around.

Yep.

Our HOA, like most, is run by Hitler era Nazis. That said, I appreciate most of what they do, so have no issues with the rules they have in place as they’re really not that bad.

The one some people were losing their shite over was that we are not supposed to put lights out until after Thanksgiving. Which, apparently, really pissed in a few of my neighbors Thanksgiving cornflakes.

So do something about it. Join up. Get on the winning team. Don’t just sit there with your martini and slab of sous vide strip cooked to an internal temp of 130° complaining about your HOA when you haven’t so much as lifted a goddamn finger to run surveillance, set up a DUI roadblock, or attend a workshop on civil asset forfeiture with your local sherriff’s department.

Shut up.

It's either this or nothing:

So I go nothing. Not a great idea to move to Santa Claus Indiana now that I think it through

No one forced them to live there, they are the ones who chose to.

Apparently not.

But,I don't care what folks put up, I actually find it entertaining to see what others put up, although I do minimal: candles in the window, lighted wreath on front door, etc.

Not necessarily. Pretty naive of you to think so.

I don't have to worry about an HOA.

That's a little overboard

This is true, but you know how people are...it’s Facebook vigilantism at its finest.

Now, the current basketball goal debate is another story. That is a nuclear topic right now that has people shooting emails off left and right. The whole thing cracks me up. I’m with the HOA on this one...I don’t want to see your trashy moveable goals. Put a nice one up and bury it in cement like a normal person.

And don’t decorate it with Christmas lights.

Not in a HOA, but all in our neighborhood have agreed pretty much anything goes except music.

How? It's 2018, if they don't like it, move the f out.

If they can afford an extra $100/mo for HOA fees, they can find someplace else they can save the fee. shite, they could even use that savings to buy more holiday shite and keep it up all year.

My neighbor with the giant wood carved eagle has now wrapped it in red, white, and blue lights

It’s this really nice mixture of trashiness and badass
