No basketball goals allowed. The same people that have these goals park their cars in the driveway because they use their garage as a party room. So, they then park their cars on the street. Go play at the neighborhood park or don't play at all.

What position did you play when you played basketball?

yep...my HOA rules say that all lighting and decorating plans must be approved by the association. They don't really hold you to the requirement, but it someone gets out of hand, they do have the ability to enforce it.

How about the New Hampshire cottage, old sport? Those dastardly neighbors of yours had no patience for the noise my rrari was making last Thanksgiving.

Is having lights up for a few weeks really bringing down the property values?

This is true, but you know how people are...it’s Facebook vigilantism at its finest. Now, the current basketball goal debate is another story. That is a nuclear topic right now that has people shooting emails off left and right. The whole thing cracks me up. I’m with the HOA on this one...I don’t want to see your trashy moveable goals. Put a nice one up and bury it in cement like a normal person.

Again, is a basketball goal really going to bring down the property value?

They think they are aristocracy because they are distant Kennedy relatives. I am starting to tire of their buffoonery.

Depends on who is playing on it.

One rule.....everything has to be gone by mid January. Year round Christmas lights seems a tad trashy.

It could...

If one person had a rolling goal in the driveway out of the entire neighborhood - no, it would not.

But, when you have a large number of people that have them, like we do, then they do (sometimes) look unsightly, which could have an impact on who buys in the neighborhood...and for how much.

The HOA does more than just protect prop value - it also protects the look and feel of the neighborhood. So, when you spend a pretty good amount of money on a house, then you'd like the neighborhood to have certain standards.
