Just like the full moon has an effect on high tides, it pulls on the fluid surrounding your brain. Lunatics! Look it up.

Do you have a theory on the WHY part? Why would a full moon affect behavior?

Nope.

However, I fully believe it does have an impact but I have never looked into any research that may or may not have been done.

My "evidence" is completely anecdotal. However, for the past several years I have run an alternative school. We have several "feeder" schools that send us students.

I mark the full moon each month. Our numbers increase around the date I have marked. Strange.

Other anecdotals:
1. I have talked with a lady who works in a lawyers office. She said that she has always noticed their office has increased cases of DUI, Domestic violence, etc the days after the full moon.

2. I had a doctor tell me that when he was an ER doctor they always dreaded full moon nights, especially if they fell on the weekend.

3. I had a nurse, (who was helping with my sleep apnea tests) tell me she worked in a nursing home years earlier. She described the nursing home as becoming a brothel on full moon nights.

All that to say, no theory on why and no idea where to start. But I do believe the full moon does have an impact.

Crank down the AC a few degrees on those nights.

Your welcome

Bama323- I feel your pain. We have always tracked the moon just for fun, and there seems to be a correlation between referrals and the full moon. I've had nurses and cops tell me the same thing about the ER as you stated.

I always sleep soundly during a full moon, but I wake up feeling exhausted and physically tired with the taste of blood in my mouth

There's some science behind that. Seems that even when you can't see it, a full moon messes up your sleep.

My issues with it have never been the "visible" light. We have blinds and curtains and our bedroom is pitch black. Same with my kids

It was always a joke between my wife and I when the full moon came around, the kids would not sleep. It was not every time obviously but when they were younger, it was happen a lot.

Ive never been one for these things but I honestly believe there is something to it. I usually sleep very well. Worked in my yards all day yesterday and had a few cocktails before I crashed. That is always a recipe for good sleep for me. I woke up about midnight and never went back to sleep. My 15 year old was awake all night as well.

It may be time to move to another planet.

Full moon didn't bother me, had a couple runaways from the Sheriff's Teen Ranch out in the woods last night.

One had enough of running and knocked on the door and I fed him and talked to him until a couple county deputy units showed up to take him back. The dipshit kid ran only wearing socks and pants and after failing to hitch a ride he decided that running through creeks and the woods would be a good idea. Once the coyotes started howling up he ran to my house scared out of his mind.

The 2nd one stopped at the bridge but was still hiding and the deputies couldn't locate him so I stayed up waiting to see if he'd show since they never called to let me know the 2nd one was in custody or returned to the boys ranch.
