Making millions of dollars in NIL money, while never appearing in anything with your name, image or likeness is what makes you a student athlete today.

Did you serve on active duty in the National Guard? Just being in the National Guard and never being activated is not enough for the GI bill. I take it that you were called up? You have me curious now.

Definitely deployed to Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan 2013. Katrina and countless storms, COVID, Oil Spill Missions. But yes I did qualify for Post 9/11 for Iraq Deployment.

I'll have to look at my enlistment paperwork from 20 years ago. Could have sworn I signed up for GI Bill as well in 1999.

Eta: Coach K seems to ensdorse that sentiment in his Army commercial today.

I know a guy who is a guardsmen. He’s far from an athlete and an even worse human being. They take almost anybody.

I'd say most guardsmen end up on active orders that qualify for GI bill. Also many states give free tuition to guardsmen

The Army takes anybody, they go thru the same Basic Training.

ETA: The Guard does after the fact keep dog shite soldiers. From personel experience it depends on the State. Texas Guard will cut your arse, Louisiana will smear that turd for as long as they can for numbers. Florida Guard will cut your arse cause you'll actually get a State Retirment ontop of your Fed Retirement.
